About Prop B

Prop B wants to place a limit in the amount of terms a supervisor of the county board of supervisors can serve. The main reason why they want to amend this proposition is because it is noticeable that many incumbents have been on the board for an extensive amount of time. These incumbents are gathering up a large amounts of money where they are no longer using it for the benefit of the county, they become attached thinking that the money belongs to them. This results in knocking out all the competition for a re-election. There hasn’t been a noticeable change in the to issues that San Diego faces such as wild fires, traffic, and healthcare. That is why many people feel that limiting the amount of time a supervisor could serve would bring in newer leaders and counsel members that could address the problems that our city is facing.

Two Thumbs UP for Prop B

Reasons why I would vote for prop B:

  • The board of supervisors do need some diversity so that they can acurately represent San Deigo. There needs to be diversity racially wise and political ideology wise, especially since currently all five are white Republicans.

  • I believe that 15-16 years of a term is not appropiate because then there is no change in how things are run. Its is too much power for so long that not a lot of things get done because the supervisors get comfortable, start doing nothing, and start thinking that our money is thiers.

  • They can take advantage of the power and start doing many things that might not be fair to the people. They start serving thier supporters instead of the people. Power becomes abused instead of wisely used.

  • They also wouldn't be giving other people the opportunity to gain experience in a politically enriching position. It is very important that all qualified people get the opportunity to hold

  • Allowing term limits would bring new talent and new ideas, promoting competition and community involvement.

  • Term limits work as seen with the President, Mayor, Governor, and City Council. The Board of Supervisors should be treated the same and should be required a term limit.
