Prop B

About Prop B

Prop B wants to place a limit in the amount of terms a supervisor of the county board of supervisors can serve. The main reason why they want to amend this proposition is because it is noticeable that many incumbents have been on the board for an extensive amount of time. These incumbents are gathering up a large amounts of money where they are no longer using it for the benefit of the county, they become attached thinking that the money belongs to them. This results in knocking out all the competition for a re-election. There hasn’t been a noticeable change in the to issues that San Diego faces such as wild fires, traffic, and healthcare. That is why many people feel that limiting the amount of time a supervisor could serve would bring in newer leaders and counsel members that could address the problems that our city is facing.

  1. I WOULD STRONGLY VOTE NO!!!! Im tired of people limiting the Military. Right now our Pacific fleet needs all the help it can get, and any new nuissance is an issue that would affect me directly now and in the future. I get the point in having new term limits, etc. Yet these incumbents are voted in for a reason, If they did a bad job they'd be long gone. Forget partly ideology or lines, when it comes to getting the job done leave either party, either canidate can get it done one way or the other, but limiting the Navy's resources is not on my agenda. Even though this is the Navy were talking about ( GO ARMY BEAT NAVY!!) I would vote H@#l NO! on this propistion because it will affect my brothers and sisters which I will serve with for the rest of my life.

  2. I would vote yes for this proposition because I think that one of the main reasons for why these people are beign reelected is because they are more known by the people. People have become comfortable with their situation and therefore they do not take the time to research who they are voting for. I think that if term limits were set, the more people would pay attention to who they are voting for. I want the money that they have to be used in a way that will profit the citizens and so maybe having new peopel will help. Julio, what does this have to do with the army of navy?

  3. It has to do with this" The military also opposes to the proposition B because it would mean that they will take away the right to import heavy object through the second port, which the military relies heavily on. Prop B would cancel the plan of making a port directly for military use for importation of heavy materials. The money that the taxpayers collect would go towards others things such attractions. " Its at the end of the thing thank you.. and since they are incumbents and they geting the same postition why change it if the voters vote them in again?

  4. I voted yes on this proposition because it gives san diego the option of getting members on the supervisors board. Setting limits would bring more points of views to san diego and be able to get more ideas through and help san diego move foward.

  5. I would vote no on proposition B. I believe that it is ultimately the choice of the people. It is the people that keep voting for these candidates, so they shouldn't really be complaining. They want new candidates? Then go and vote for them. Voting for a familiar name is irresponsible on the voters part. It is their job to investigate for who they want in the board. And there is also the chance that the people on the board could be good candidates, but must be kicked because of the term limits. I say that the public is at fault here.

  6. I would vote yes on proposition B. I would vote for this proposition because that would mean that new people would come in and bring different and fresh perspectives to the San Diego community. Apart from this, term limits would be given to different positions in California which make the different perspectives and new people enter to change this state. At the same time I dislike the idea that there would no policies that go through the public and is more closed door but it would give more opportunities to the new people that would like to try to be part of this state.

  7. If I could vote on this proposition, I would vote yes. I would vote yes because term limits are good, in general. I also do not like how we have had the same council members for 15+ years. I think that this proposition, if not "even the playing field" it would at least allow for people with new ideas and perspectives to be a part of the City Council whether they be part of the Democratic party or the Republican party. I think this proposition makes everything fairer so I would yes on it.

  8. I would vote no on Proposition B. I think the people that are in office are there because they got voted in. I also believe that by giving them more time we have more consistency in the board. Some projects require time, and if they are started they could be ended by the next person coming in. It ends in a waste of time and money for that project. Also, it allows for interest groups to have less influence. If in elections they are supported by certain groups, these groups could ultimately influence the board's decisions. I think we should try to do what we do with the supreme court because then we can create a board without outside influence from certain groups or people.

  9. I would vote NO on Proposition B. The reason is because I believe that giving a term limit will force the voters to vote for new candidates just because the incumbents aren't allowed to run anymore. The incumbents win for a reason, and it is because the people voted for them. Having a term limit might make voters vote on candidates they never even heard about before. Therefore, I vote NO for Proposition B because I believe incumbents keep getting reelected for a reason.

  10. I think that eight years is a very long time for things to get done and I also think that in eight years a lot can change. I believe candidates are voted in for a reason, yes but this is before we actually see what is being done by them. Candidates may become too comfortable in their positions and eight years is more than enough time to do something and get something fone. If the same people keep getting reelected over and over we see the same person in power and no change. I think having term limits will not only let fresh meat come into office but make changes. For those reasons I vote yes on Prop B!

  11. Walfred- I would vote no on proposition B. Giving term limits restricts candidates to only serve for 8th years, and i feel that if they are good at their job we should continue to reelect them. Consistency is the key to success and having to vote in new candidates every 8 years takes away from consistency

  13. i would vote no on Prop B. i don't agree with limiting the term for supervisor of the San Diego County board member because i don;t think 2 years is enough to make great changes. when it comes to very controversial issues, it takes time to come up with a solution that pleases everyone or even the majority. if this prop is enacted it won't give the person in office enough time to make the changes neccessary. although it wil allow more people to run for this office, what i'm worried about is the candidates that we do like. if they are doing a fair job and following through with their plans, then its the peoples choice to keep them. thats why i would vote no on Prop B.

  14. I definately cote yes on this prop. Providing a limit on terms is crucial to having a fair and effective government that will serve to the needs of the people. Without a limit on terms, office holders have a very lengthy term and it is usually the incumbents that win. The issue here is that sometimes the incumbents - althoguh they win- no longer fit in with the needs of such a dynamic population with constantly changing needs. Also, it is ok to place term limits because not only does it give people more of motivation to run and win, but if the incumbents TRULY deserve to win, then they will.

  15. I would vote no on this prop because i do not believe in setting term limits for politicians who have served and done their job well for many years. Although some people would want a change in who is in power, if the people elected that person knowing that there would not be term limits and trusts that that person would provide for them, then i do not think that there is a need for change. If the people want to elect another candidate in the future then it is their option to vote for another person who can successfulyl provide for their needs.

  16. I would definitely vote for this proposition. Truthfully, unlimited terms causes corruption. THe supervisors are using the money to keep themselves in and not giving the money that california needs. They have all this unused money that we need, and we can prevent this by voting for this prop. Also unlimited terms cause bad representation.

  17. I would vote for Prop B because I think that everyone should be given a chance to run, and limiting terms will provide a fair chance for everyone. People who are on office will be able to stay in their position as long as they want until they retire. Sometimes a person in office will start to slack off in their responsibilities, and a new one would have to take their place. So, I would vote for Prop B because it's fair and if the current person in office wins again, then it's because they deserve it and the citizens like them.

  18. I would vote no on Prop b because the term limit in to short. Because if we have a strong leader in office and two years he is repalced by an uneffective leaders, then that can pose a problem.

  19. I am a little iffi about this proposition. Although I am I think that I would vote yes. The reason why I would vote yes is because I feel that limiting the government would be good for out governmen. I think that the government is important as well as the way that some people think that the military is not important but it is. That is why I would say no. The other situation is that we give to much money to the army. I would not want to block anything but then again, our economy and taxes goes to them. It would help more then hurt.

  20. I would have to vote no even though at first I would vote yes but after hearing other thoughts i think that if the people in office are doing a good job you should keep them there. If they start failing to do their job properly I would then take them out of office but other than that why mess up the momentum. You might just have somebody come in who isn’t as strong and is failing to do his/her job which then gives us a problem. Keep it how it is and people will be happy.

  21. Personally, I would vote yes on Proposition B. I believe that Prop. B will bring in new people and give new ideas to San Diego which will be good. I believe that the only reason these peopel are still in office is beacuse they are the people known; the only names society has heard.
